2008 – House Plan Marketing Association -- 2008 Dear Designer and Publisher Colleagues,
While 2007 was a tough year for the US housing market,
pre-designed plan designers and publishers provided
innovative and economical design options for home builders
and private clients throughout the marketplace.
Home builders create powerful representation, lobbying, and
publicity through their industry organization, the National
Association of Home Builders. But who speaks for the
pre-designed plan industry? The House Plan Marketing
Association is THE organization representing the interests
of pre-designed plan designers, publishers and associates.
The HPMA has 48 designer, publisher and associate members,
including most of the heavyweights in the pre-designed plan
design and publishing industry. To strengthen its voice in
representing the common interests of pre-designed plan
designers and publishers, the HPMA is committed to
increasing membership and its value to members in 2008.
Here are some of the goals and values associated with House
Plan Marketing Association membership:

Creating a united voice to promote, protect and expand the
pre-designed plan industry.

Educating home builders and the general public about US
copyright laws.

Creating and distributing effective methods of copyright
protection to members, including the HPMA red copyright
stamp; the HPMA tri-fold copyright education brochure, the
“10 Things Home Designers Should Do/Not Do to Live in
Harmony with the Copyright Act”, and the “10 Things You
Should Know About Architectural Works Copyrights”.

Providing an online forum and bulletin board for issues
relevant to members.

Providing an information clearinghouse for issues
pertaining to the industry.

Providing a forum for networking and business development
among members.

Supporting new designers and publishers entering the
pre-designed plan industry.

Developing industry contacts at our meetings at the NAHB
and AIBD conventions.

Advocating for high standards in home design, construction
and environmental stewardship.
Your membership in the House Plan Marketing Association is a
strong value at $400 per year. The officers and members of
